Receiving Personal Independence Payments (PIP) can act as a gateway for accessing other types of help. If you receive specific rates of PIP you may be eligible for other benefits (providing you meet the other conditions of each benefit).
Exemples
If you receive the standard rate for the Mobility Component you may be eligible for the following:
- A 50% Discount on vehicle tax
- A benefit cap exemption – Housing Benefit and Universal Credit
- Child Amount, disabled child addition, lower rate – Universal Credit
- 16-19 Bursary Fund
- Student Eligibility for Universal Credit and income-related ESA
If you receive the Enhanced rate for the Mobility Component you may be eligible for:
- Exemption from Vehicle Tax
- Motability
- Driving Licence at Age 16
If you receive the Standard Rate of the Daily Living Component you may be eligible for:
- Additional amount for severe disability (guarantee credit of pension credit)
- Benefit Cap exemption – Housing Benefit and Universal Credit
- Carer’s Allowance : Carer test
- Child amount, disabled child addition, lower rate – Universal Credit
- National Insurance Carer’s Credit
- No non-dependant deductions – Housing Benefit, Employment and Support Allowance, Income Support, Job Seeker’s Allowance, Universal Credit housing costs and support for mortgage interest loans
- 16-19 Bursary Fund
- Student eligibility for Universal Credit and Income-related Employment and Support Allowance
If you receive Enhanced Rate of the Mobility component you may be eligible for:
- Child amount, disabled child addition, higher rate – Universal Credit
