WECIL is a leading Disabled People’s Organisation dedicated to promoting equality, independence, and inclusion for Disabled people. For over 25 years, we have been at the forefront of supporting and empowering Disabled people across Bristol, South Gloucestershire, B&NES and North Somerset. Our work is grounded in the Social Model of Disability, which means we focus on removing barriers and challenging discrimination, so that Disabled people can live the lives they choose.

As all of WECIL’s work is to support people with their disability-related challenges, personal lived experience of disability is always seen as a positive quality in candidates. Executive Assistant and Governance Coordinator

£27,415 – £30,267 per annum

Ready to make a move to an organisation having a big positive impact on the lives of Disabled people? We are looking for a fantastic, highly skilled administrator to take on this new and challenging role.

We want someone who takes pride in providing excellent support to the organisation, thrives working in a busy environment and is able to juggle a broad and varied workload.

The role requires someone who can come in and make it their own – reviewing previous working practices and using a systems thinking approach to create smooth and effective processes to ensure WECIL is a well-managed and efficient organisation.

Participation Coordinator

This is an exciting opportunity to work with WECIL’s Voice and Activism team to impact societal change for Disabled people.

We are looking for a self-motivated and passionate individual, someone with strong personal values and a desire to make a difference to people’s lives. Experience in a participatory role with a strong understanding of co-production is essential. If you have experience of working with Disabled people, leading groups and working to impact change this could be the role for you!  The role offers incredible job satisfaction, flexible working, excellent holiday entitlement and opportunities to develop as part of a systems thinking team. 

This role is open to anyone however, if you have lived experience of disability, we are particularly interested in hearing from you.

Experience working in Social Care is an advantage, but not essential. The role offers incredible job satisfaction, flexible working, excellent holiday entitlement and opportunities to develop as part of a systems thinking team.

This role is open to anyone however, if you have lived experience of disability then we are particularly interested to hear from you. It is essential for the role that you are able to speak either Somali or Arabic and are also fluent in English.

Working with Disabled Children and Young People

As a sessional worker in WECIL’s Children and Young People provision, you’ll have the chance to positively influence the lives of Disabled young people. You might find yourself planning fun outings, leading creative workshops, or simply being a trusted presence who helps young people navigate challenges and celebrate their achievements.

WECIL help our customers to use a Direct Payment to manage their own support to by hiring Personal Assistants (PAs),

The role of a PA is more than just a job—it’s a vital and rewarding way to support Disabled people in leading independent, fulfilling lives. PAs provide essential, person-centred support, empowering Disabled people to live on their terms, pursue their interests, with full access to their communities.

Comprehensive Training and Support

WECIL are committed to ensuring PAs are equipped with the skills and knowledge they need to excel in their roles. Our Skills for Care funded range of training is designed to enhance your confidence and competence as a PA through essential courses such as First Aid and Moving and Handling and specialist modules like Neurodivergence Awareness. Our courses focus on effective communication, professional boundaries, and fostering independence for those you support. Training is delivered by experienced trainers, often in collaboration with Lived Experience Facilitators, ensuring that the learning is not only practical but also deeply rooted in the real-world experiences of Disabled people. WECIL also provides ongoing resources and peer support, helping our PAs to continue their professional development long after the training sessions have ended.

Bristol Disability Equality Forum Director

£40,000 – Full Time

You must be a Disabled person with a strong commitment to, and understanding of, disability as an equalities and political issue. You will need to have experience of managing and leading, overseeing budgets and making funding applications. You will need to have excellent communication skills and be confident in representing disability equality issues in a wide range of settings (Statutory Boards, Committees etc.)

Senior Community Development Worker

28 hours a week worked flexibly with a salary of £28,501

You must be a Disabled person with extensive experience of community development and empowering support, able to lead and manage a team of paid and unpaid staff. You will need to be used to setting up and evaluating different projects and inclusive activities, and be able to communicate in an accessible and inclusive way with a wide range of people.
