An exciting new series of events is bringing the joy of clubbing to Bristol in a unique and inclusive way. Disco Neurotico, a vibrant and thoughtful reimagining of nightlife, is hosting a “Rave and Recharge” daytime disco, designed with Disabled people, particularly neurodivergent and sound-sensitive individuals, in mind. These events aim to create a safe, welcoming space for those who might find traditional clubbing environments overwhelming.
The first of these groundbreaking events is set to take place on Saturday 15 February, at Pavey House in Clifton, with further events planned at St Werburghs Community Centre the following day and at Bristol Beacon on Saturday 29th March. Doors open at 1pm, offering a daytime alternative to late-night parties, perfect for those looking to experience the energy of a rave without the sensory overload that often comes with it.
What to Expect at Disco Neurotico
Disco Neurotico is the brainchild of Byron Vincent, who has firsthand experience with neurodivergence and mental health challenges. Recognising the barriers many face in traditional club settings, Byron created this space to ensure no one is excluded from the joy of music and dancing.
These events are all about accessibility and inclusivity. With features like silent disco equipment, non-strobing lights, and calming quiet spaces, Disco Neurotico ensures a comfortable environment for people who are “neurospicy.” There’s also a focus on structured activities, such as gaming and crafts, for those who might prefer to socialise in other ways.
Who Are These Events For?
Disco Neurotico’s daytime discos are open to everyone, but they are specifically designed to be fully inclusive of neurodivergent people, sound-sensitive people, and anyone who might struggle with the intensity of traditional clubbing. The organisers aim to break down barriers and show that nightlife can be inclusive, empowering, and fun for all.
The Impact of Inclusive Clubbing
The initiative has already received widespread praise. Past attendees have highlighted how the events have helped them feel more confident and included in social spaces. Venues hosting Disco Neurotico have also celebrated its impact, noting the overwhelmingly positive feedback from participants.
