We help people with a Learning Difference to have a louder voice and to create a bigger community.
People’s Voice was created as an organisation for people with learning differences. Our goal is to help you learn, take action, speak up, and set up your own organisations.
We will find out what people with learning differences (LD) want and need in Bristol, make changes, influencing decisions, and help people with LD to have their say.
At People’s Voice, we have a monthly learning group, where people talk about current social and political issues. Our project workers provide training on running an organisation, social media, and finance.
We aim to involve the community, promote events, and make it easier for people to contact us and have their voices heard. People’s Voice wants to be the go-to organisation in Bristol for advocacy and engagement.
The Know Your Rights online forum is a community of adults with Learning Disabilities and/or Autism. Here you can connect with others, share experiences, find resources, discuss issues that are important to you and make friends! We are here to create a future where every person with a Learning Disability and/or Autism can fulfil their potential.
A learning difference refers to a difference in how people process information. People with a learning difference might take more time to learn and may need different ways of learning or different tools for learning.
To grow the understanding and awareness of the challenges faced by people with learning disabilities.
I’ve been part of people’s voice project since the start of the project.
I like to skateboard and do calisthenics.
One of the many reasons why I’m very passionate about this job is making things accessible as much possible for people especially with public transportation.
I was born on 1st January 1996. I have had experiences of working with both national and local charities. My initial involvement with WECIL began in 2019 on the Know Your Rights project. I have become a Trustee of WECIL. In 2024 I became a Project Worker.
I am an “Expert By Experience” on the NHSs Care (Education) Treatment Review Program.
I enjoy coming to People Voice. I like meeting people in the group. I like Eastenders on tv. It is nice to help new people. Doctors should listen when we ask them to make their letters Easy Read.
I am Molly Hutchison, 22 Years Old.
I like trampolining, youth club, being with my family, going out for walks with my family, also going out for meals with my family as well.
I like my job because it’s interesting and I like working in a team.
I ride a bike, I like music of the 60s and 70s. I don’t like people doing things for me! Only if I ask for help.
I like my job at WECIL, because I like to help. And I like to learn things. I like things to be assessable, for people with neurodivergence, especially medical people.
Hi, I’m Jemma, I am a project worker for know your rights, before my project worker role, I volunteered for the know your rights group for 3 and half years. I do this job because I’m a passionate disability advocate belonging to different organisations either working or volunteering for them.
