People’s Voice want to change the Diamond Bus Pass so Disabled people can travel for free before 9:00 am on weekdays.
To change the Diamond Bus Pass, People’s Voice have created a petition.
A petition is a demand for people or groups to change something.
People sign their names on a petition to support it.
This petition will be sent to the West of England Combined Authority (WECA), who make decisions about travel.
Changing the Diamond Buss Pass would help Disabled people to spend less money on bus journeys.
Lots of Disabled people need the bus to get to work, education, or important appointments in the morning.
The Diamond Bus Pass only works on weekdays after 9:00 am.
This affects Disabled people more than anyone else.
The current Diamond Bus Pass suggests that Disabled people do not work or need to access education.
In reality, over half of working aged Disabled people in the UK are working. (Office for National Statistics). |
Other cities like London already allow people to use their Diamond bus pass before 9 am..
In Warwickshire, the council changed the Diamond Bus Pass so Disabled people could use it before 9 am.
This meant that Disabled people in Warwickshire could more easily access employment, education, and essential services.
The People’s Voice petition demands that the West of England Combined Authority make bus travel in and around Bristol more inclusive.
