A Call to Disabled People in Bristol to join the Climate Action Forum

Illustrationfrom Bristol Climate and Nature Partnership depicting a person surrounded by nature

In 2021-2022, Disabled people in Bristol collaborated to create a community climate action plan. This plan outlines actions to ensure climate initiatives in Bristol improve rather than harm the lives of Disabled people. The plan is available to read here, where there are also Easy Read and BSL versions of the plan and an explanation video.

Now, the Bristol Climate & Nature Partnership, is undertaking work led by Climate and Disability Programme Associate Emma Geen to help bring this plan to life and they are looking for eight Disabled people to help do this.

No expertise in climate change is required, just an interest in the issues.

What You’ll Do:

  • Attend seven three-hour meetings (online or in-person) which will be held every two months, starting Friday, 5th July, 11am-2pm.
  • Engage in two hours of preparatory work before each meeting.
  • Provide feedback and ideas to climate change organisations.
  • Help update the climate action plan and share insights with the UK Government, local council, and other groups.

  • £150 per meeting (can be given as shopping vouchers).
  • Coverage of access needs and transport for in-person attendance.

This is a great opportunity to make a difference. If you’re interested, apply now using the form that can be found here. If the form is not accessible to you, you can contact Emma Geen at [email protected] or you can leave a message on 07930278602 to get a call back.
